DESCRIPTION:Attention all CERT and CTSART (CT State Animal Response Team) Volunteers and Trainees\nWe are inviting all CERT and all CTSART (CT State Animal Response Team) members to a Training Session on CTSART and Animal Sheltering\nTopics:          AM: CTSART Overview and Certification for CERT volunteers (not already CTSART trained) \nPM: Animal Shelter Training Exercise for all CTSART and CERT- CTSART trained volunteers (CTSART trailer and supplies will be on site) \nDate:              Saturday April 20th 2024   9:00am-4:00pm \n          Trainer:           Sheldon Yessenow\, DVM\, Region 1 Team Leader \n          Co-Trainer:     Donna Cobelli\, DVM\, Region 5 Team Leader \nLocation:       Central Animal Hospital for Veterinary Medicine \n                     4 Devine St   North Haven CT 06473 \nMorning  Program: 9:00am-12:00pm : CERT volunteers train to the CTSART program \nThe program consists of Two Modules to be taught the same day to allow all CERT volunteers to be cross trained to be CTSART volunteers. Trainees must be CERT certified. \nCTSART is a volunteer program organized to help prepare our state for any disasters \ninvolving animals. Our goal is to facilitate a prompt\, effective response to emergencies \ninvolving animals. CTSART missions include deployment of co-located companion animal \nevacuation shelters\, building volunteer networks trained and state certified to assist \nwith animals in need in disasters and public education. \nUpon completion of the two modules\, volunteers will be sworn in to be certified to respond to animals in disaster. Volunteers will work as a team\, under the auspices of a CTSART Regional Leader. \nAfternoon Program: 12:30pm -4:00pm Animal Shelter Training Exercise \nThe training will consist of a short PowerPoint on “how to†set up an animal shelter. It will be followed by a live exercise reviewing the components of animal sheltering including reception\, canine and feline housing and care. The goal is to train volunteers to use standardized forms and protocols wherever an animal shelter is established. \nAll CERT volunteers are welcome.
